Paddling Pools
2018
Exhibited at
Le centre d’art Les 3 Cha Châteaugiron (France) from 6. until 27. October 2018 in cooperation with Festival Maintenant 2018
Twenty paddling pools filled with light and air form an expansive media art installation consisting of a long row of luminous rings of color. The light isn’t just an atmospheric element but becomes a substantial part of the work and reshapes these everyday objects into a living sculpture.
A custom written program takes control of the rings of 16 LEDs in the middle of each pool and sets this in-situ-installation in motion by constantly changing speed and rhythm. The bottoms of the pools are removed to allow different views through and along the floating tube of light. Different viewpoints along the almost 30 meter long straight line allow changing perspectives onto the interplay of organic and graphic surfaces inside the darkened space of the former church from the 12th century.
